Yes.  They were never licenced by myself under the GPL+exception
licence in any case--I always intended the use to be all-permissive
(though this was not written in the macro).

However, with the advent of pkg-config these macros are pretty much
deprecated.  I'm happy for folks to use them, but I'm not sure they
should be used for new stuff.  Would it be possible to mark them as
deprecated, and remove them at some point in the future?
