Good, then I'd rebuild the font caches.
See: mkfontdir(1) and $(GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT)/Tools/font_cacher
I suppose you don't have any other *Font default set either in
NSGlobalDomain or in GNUMail defaults.
