Hello,
Thanks to people who have been pushing me into this,
a beta-quality release of py_aspell is available from
http://oriya.sarovar.org/download/py_aspell.tar.gz
It contains Python bindings (via SWIG:
http://www.swig.org) for all objects in aspell.h,
Python implementations of the aspell example programs,
list-dicts.c and example-c.c, and wordspell.py, a
GUI spellchecker that lets you enter a word for
spellchecking. wordspell.py uses Pango/GTK for the
rendering, so it should work with any language
supported by Pango, provided an aspell dictionary is
available. This was the main motivation for writing
this. While the spellchecker plug-in in gedit 2.12
does support aspell 0.60, it seems to have a hard-
coded internal list of languages.
The release is still not put together very well, but
should work out of the box if you have Python 2.3 or
2.4, and aspell 0.60+. You only need SWIG if you want
to remake the Python bindings, which is usually not
necessary. Please see the README file in the
distribution for details.
Comments are invited.
Regards,
Gora
