Regarding author commands there is \Huge as well.  But you can choose
font sizes directly as well (see below).  Besides, the font selection
commands are switches, not commands with arguments.  So you'd write
something like {\Huge Text} to change the font size locally.

In order to get this post more on-topic for this list: In AUCTeX you
can insert these commands by typing `C-c RET', begin to type the
command and complete them by pressing TAB.  Also there is completion
directly in the text by typing `M-TAB' (or `ESC TAB' or `M-C-i').
