I've met with "shell-escape" in pdftricks, which allows using pstricks
in PDF output.

But, I'm afraid that it's a matter of your TeX distribution, ie.
whether it is a web2c implementation of TeX, but nothing with emacs or
AUCTeX.

MikTeX is not a web2c implementation, I suppose.
Is ConTeX?
