Then according to your view there is a bug, because in my case
previews are being opened wether I am searching with `C-s', `C-M-s' or
`C-M-s RET'. Checked with circ.tex and the search string "einf" which
will find the section "Einführung".
Value of `preview-auto-reveal' is
(preview-arrived-via backward-char forward-char). Emacs version is
GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.8.20) of
2006-08-22 on neutrino.
To avoid being misunderstood: In my opinion searching should open
previews per default.
