Hallo and good morning,
for a book I use the following preamble part:
\NeedsTeXFormat{LaTeX2e}
\documentclass[{svmono}% Springer Classfile for monographs
% *********Eingabe und Sprache
\usepackage[ngerman]{babel}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
% \usepackage{german}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\selectlanguage{ngerman}
.....
The pdflatex output looks fine with one exception:
The german language has many words which are composed using a hyphen.
Hyphenation fails in these composite terms. The same is true for words
with german "umlauts" \"{a} etc.
I have seen that this is old stuff but never happened to get an
improvement.
Any help appreciated
