[AUCTeX] How can I fix the "tab" key problem

Hi,

I try to use auctex on a Linux server. For some reason, in the LaTeX mode, the 
key "tab" is binded as a prefix for several commands I never use. This is very 
boring, because I am so used to using tab for indentation. 

I am wondering if there is a way for me to cancel previous binding and 
reset "tab" for indentation. I tried 

(local-set-key (kbd "TAB") LaTeX-indent-line

but it didn't work. 

I really appreciate your help.
