[AUCTeX] Problem with C-c C-C l and the dvi button among other problems

Hi, I am a complete newbie so hopefully this question will be accepted as
coming from such a person.  I downloaded the emacs/Auctex/ESS/Aspell combo
from Vincent Goulet's website (which I really appreciate by the way).  I
have been using it for a couple of months now primarily for running R and
MySQL.  I decided I wanted to move away from MS word so decided to move to
Latex.  I have added some packages since downloading and done some
customizations.  
I think one of these packages may be causing the problems.  
In particular Icicles(also appreciated) may be the problem although 
I have this mode turned off in Auctex mode.


M-x Version gives me 22.1.1 version for emacs
If I hit the DVI button i get the following message in the mini buffer.

apply: Wrong number of arguments: (lambda nil "Act on a file.  You are
prompted for the file and the action.  During file-name completion, you can
delete the file named by the current candidate, using `S-delete'.

if I type C-c C-c l return
