AFAICS only constructs like

\begin{foo}
  \label{<label>}
  ...
\end{foo}

,

\bar{... \label{<label>}}

or

\baz{<label>}{...}

are supported.  That means it has to be the argument of a macro (and
\label is hard-coded).
