It seems to be a bit more complex than that and that the best way to add the info directory to the emacs info-path is to customize the variable: Info-additionnal-directory-list I /think/ that the variable Info-directory-list is not known until info-mode is enhanced. $INFOPATH *is* taken care of even here! -- Le TeXnicien de Surface
