I just produced the AUCTeX manual with both makeinfo and texi2html:
the makeinfo manual is not so bad, the main (only?) differences with
the texi2html one are the navigation bars, the smaller section
headers, and the ToC at the beginning of the manual, while texi2html
places it at the end.

The gendoc script isn't relevant for the Debian package, so I think we
can replace texi2html with makeinfo in the configure script and then
go ahead with the new release. Comments?

Bye,
Mosè
