I do not buy the parallel:  _AC_COMPILE_IFELSE and _AC_RUN_IFELSE are
used internally by Autoconf, and the fact that they do not call
AC_LANG_COMPILER_REQUIRE is part of their definition.

_AC_COMPILE_INT, OTOH, is doomed to deletion, sooner or later, and is
kept for compatibility.  This implies that we should not modify it.

BTW: perhaps we could add a FIXME to the description of it,
mentioning that we are going to delete it.
