Good point.  I was merely copying what had been done in m4 (where the list
was markedly smaller), but I think I like libtool's approach better.

There are some files on fencepost.gnu.org which are explicit in stating
that they are for maintenance purposes only, and are not to be copied into
publicly accessible locations; but you are right that I did not see
anything about what we are allowed to repost out of copyright.list.  Maybe
this is worth bringing up on address@hidden
