BTW, I have an unfinished automake patch (testsuite-related) that might
(partly) depend on this change; there is any plan to release autoconf
2.69 in a not-so-distant future?
(But consider that the automake patch I'm referring to is not meant for
1.11.2, only for 1.12, so there's no need to hurry excessively).
