While I don't mind doing two alpha releases, wouldn't it be more
sensible to postpone the alpha release until all those pending changes
are applied?  It's not too helpful if the feedback to the first goes
like this: "foo doesn't work -- yes, we have a pending fix for this,
will be in next alpha".  OTOH if you meant that there will need to be
two alphas after all pending changes are applied, then my humble opinion
is: let the feedback to the first alpha show how things work out, and
let's decide based on that.

Yes, that plan was also intended to convince and motivate ourselves to
get things finished.  ;-)
