Thanks for pointing this out. This should be fixed. Or maybe was it
done because these macros are not to be called from the top level?
Anyway, one should not, in general, rely on AC_REQUIRE in the AU_DEFUN
of a top-level macro.
I will remove the bad guys from Autoconf.
