When one of the processes gets a signal, usually all of them get the
signal. So this shouldn't be a big problem.

If you removed the 'trap' line, then after the user interrupts the "make"
process with Ctrl-C, the lock file will stay there, and the next invocation
of "make" will wait for the "other" processes that don't exist any more.
