Hello Ralf.

I rebased the patch series against master to resolve some (really
minor) conflicts; and since I was at it, I updated the ChangeLog to
tell that the bug addressed by this series affects also Solaris 10
/usr/xpg4/bin/make (apparently /usr/ccs/make is *not* affected).
No significant, "real" change was introduced by the rebasing.

Do you want me to repost the updated series, or to open a new branch
in the Automake official repository and push the patches there? This
last option would be better IMHO, because the changes introduced by
this series might be seen as somewhat controversial, so the merge in
master might not happen soon (in fact, might not happen *at all*); and
having a remote branch would help in avoiding the bitrotting of the
series. If I'm not mistaken, a remote branch can be deleted anyway in
the future (in case it turns out to be a dead end).

WDYT?

Regards,
  Stefano
