In the last months, Automake development has largely revolved around
improving the testsuite and testability. This has led to some
stagnation on addressing user bug reports and new feature development.
I would therefore like to stop working on testsuite issues for a while,
say at least for a month, but likely until a 1.12 release is in good
shape. This means that I will postpone review of patches that do not
add new features or fix regressions, or bugs reported by Automake users.
I don't have the time resources to do everything at once. OTOH, I do
think the current testsuite and the current code structure are in good
enough shape to allow for new feature development, even without many
unit tests in place; and users really would profit more if we catch up
on bugs reports and regressions. Incremental improvements of the
testsuite can still happen later, and maybe then there will be a larger
marginal gain with them, too. Sorry for any inconveniences this causes.
Cheers,
Ralf
