Cleaning configure.lino in distclean is correct, but not
autom4te.cache.  See the comment about this a few lines below
the place you patched.

Which make are you using?  I'd rather teach Automake to warn
about this construct if it's not portable.

It changes `foo/bar' into `pbar'.
