If anyone happens to have the same problem I was with the Dragon I was 
finally able to find a solution.  The problem was that I was able to 
perform one operation with the dragon before having to close the 
programming window in AVR Studio and restart it.  Read/Write flash would 
fail every time as well.  It stemed from the ISP clock used, apparently 
too low of a clock will cause instability, as well as too high of a 
clock.  I'm running my AVR's at 8MHz on their internal RC OSC and my ISP 
clock is now 100KHz.
