[avr-gcc-list] trying to get AVR GCC to work

Im trying to get the AVRGCC to work, downloaded it from the avr freaks 
webpage and have tryed the latest version and also previous versions but 
each time they keep coming up with errors, one was a stack error while 
installing and then aborting.
Has anyone has similar experiences and can anyone help?
