I'm never doing it, i always wonder why all the description tell you
gotta do that. ;-)

It's a matter of patience.  One simply has to reattempt until success.
It's slightly better during European morning hours, when the US guys
are still asleep.

CVS pserver is very expensive on the server side.  That's why FreeBSD
for example doesn't use it at all, but has its own CVS replication
(and checkout) scheme called cvsup.  Perhaps SF could work around that
a bit by DNS-loadsharing the cvs.sourceforge.net DNS name.
