[avr-gcc-list] SPI configuration for multiple AVR slaves

My design calls for having one AVR master communicate with many AVR slaves
via SPI.  The resources I've found are vague at best in describing how to do
this.  Is it as simple as direct-wiring the MOSI/MISO/SCK lines between all
AVR's and then implementing a LIN master/slave protocol as described in
AVR308?  Has anyone had any experience here by way of drawbacks,
limitations, successes?  Do you know of additional resources that could
help?
