I patched a few things and seemed to run much deeper than that.
In the end, the solution was to add ",c++" to the the
--enable-languages=c option that I was using with the configure script.
I have a working binutils-2.15, gcc-3.4.2, and avr-libc-1.0.4 on FC2
now.
