I don't know of any system where stdarg is not going to work, so I'd
say do the neater implementation.  Mainly we are supporting FreeBSD,
Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.  GCC is the only supported compiler for
AVRDUDE, so stdarg should not be an issue.
