There is no GCC 4.6 release. The latest is GCC 4.5.0, unless you are doing 
development work on GCC HEAD (which will be the future 4.6). And avr-libc 1.4.8 
is a very old version. At the least, you should be using 1.6.8 as that is known 
stable.
