Ok sorry, I did miss that part of the manual.

Beside that the following sentence confuses me
a bit:

 >> Fields are separated by colons (`:', ASCII 58). <<
 >> http://tinyurl.com/42789 <<

I did use colons and wasn't able to use the text DB
as an input for MySQL. By accident I did figure out
that I should have used blanks instead.

Did I understand right, that I can use an existing
text database to be fed into MySQL? If yes, can
you comment on why colons are not working - At
least for me?

No, it is not. Anubisadm manages already existing databases. This
is also underlined in the docs, please see
