For concurrent processing Apple uses what they have named Grand Central
Dispatch - their own implementation.
Attached is the pdf which I haven't yet read but will do so sometime.
I agree with your plan to get parallel working in linux first while maintaining
OSX compilation.
When the time comes to implement on OSX I'll do what I can to help.
