Well, just answer "no" to the question whether you should cache the
preamble, or equivalently to C-c C-p C-c C-f.  It would appear that
you are confusing mylatex.ltx (which preview-latex uses for its
preamble dumping), so you might want to report this as a bug to David
Carlisle.  Whether this will be high priority for him, I somewhat
doubt, however.

I have redirected the reply to the bug-auctex list, just that you are
not surprised about that.
