Remember to cover the basics, that is, what you expected to happen and
what in fact did happen.

Be sure to consult the FAQ section in the manual before submitting
a bug report. If the bug (or problem) is triggered by a specific
(La)TeX file, you should try to produce a minimal sample file
showing the problem and include it in your report.

Your bug report will be posted to the AUCTeX bug reporting list.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bug is very similar to the one described by Reiner Steib in
"[Bug-AUCTeX] 2006-12-29; "% foo \chapter bar" breaks
TeX-fold-buffer".

To reproduce use this as junk.tex:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
\documentclass{article}
\renewcommand{\textbf}[1]{\textsmaller{#1}}
\begin{document}
text.
\end{document}
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

$ emacs -Q --eval '(load "auctex.el" nil t t)' junk.tex

M-x TeX-fold-mode RET
M-x TeX-fold-buffer RET

The renewcommand is displayed as:

\renewcommand{[Error: No content found]}[1]{\textsmaller{#1}}

Maybe folding should be disabled in the first mandatory argument of
renewcommand.

Cheers

Patrick
