You're right, but what can I say? Sometimes elegance is confusing --
and in a functional manual, clarity is more important than elegance.

Yes, I've noticed that, but it's still a bit confusing, even for me.
For example, when I am in GNU Emacs info mode, and type "i" followed
by "AC_AIX" and then RET, Emacs responds "No `AC_AIX' in index".
Strictly speaking this is correct, so I sigh and type "i" "AIX" RET
and get to where I want. But surely the vast majority of Autoconf
users trying to decipher their configure.ac files would prefer the
index to contain "AC_AIX", since that's what they see on their
screens.
