No, nothing changed, other than a reinstallation of emacs-21.2 (new
executables in /usr/local/bin since the first automake-1.6.1 tests:

        b2m ctags ebrowse emacs-21.2 emacsclient etags grep-changelog 
        nemacs rcs-checkin
)

The second of these gives a 

        No rule to make target `check-TESTS'
