That's because, starting from Automake 1.13, the default testsuite harness
has been switched from the old serial one to the new parallel one (which was
introduced in Automake 1.11). And the parallel harness has never supported
the use of wildcards in TESTS.
If you want to continue using the serial harness with Automake 1.13, you
have to specify the 'serial-tests' option (introduced in Automake 1.12).
