This is an old version of the assembler.

And an old version of the linker.  We are at release 2.16 now and 
version 2.17 will be out in a few months.  Please could you try building 
a set of the binutils from the current mainline sources and see if the 
problem still exists ?  If it does, please could you open a bug report 
at:  http://sourceware.org/bugzilla.
