Right, and they do. But I think that a very copy idiom is to copy binaries
from some install directory (/opt/cfengine, say) to /var/cfengine on every
local host, using NFS or native cfengine copy.

I guess that makes sense if /var/cfengine is your install directory. If it is
a (rather automated) destination/scratch directory for clients, it might be
preferable to keep everything under one roof.
