It is trying to use Graphics2D. Could you try with --enable-gtk-cairo and
-Dgnu.java.awt.peer.gtk.Graphics=Graphics2D. Or just remove this custom plastic
plaf, it probably is just eyecandy and not really needed for the program
functionality.
