But the point is: NumberFormat#parse should not be used to parse a date string. MinimumIntegerDigits and MaximumIntegerDigits of NumberFormat are not used to stricly limit the number of digits, but are used only to estimate the substring length to be parsed. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=30359
