URLStream Example

Does anyone have a (preferably working) example of URLStream in use? I
need to use it to download a file via either HTTP or FTP (haven't decided
which I'm using just yet) and then I'll be dlopen()ing that file.
However, the documentation for URLStream is entirely incomplete, and if
someone has samples of code that properly uses it then it'd save me a
great deal of decoding.
