The item from the TODO list:
ls: add --format=FORMAT option that controls how each line is printed:
My question is, would FORMAT be a string or a character like the rest of
the flags for ls? For example, would you have something like: 'ls -l
--format=octal', or something more like 'ls -l --format=o"?
Thanks,
Chris

Thank you for the offer.
However there are just too many different ways
in which people would like ls -l information to be printed,
so I wouldn't add a new option for that.
If you're interested in solving the problem in a more general
way, please consider this item from the TODO file:
ls: add --format=FORMAT option that controls how each line is printed.
It would work much the way find's -printf predicate does.
It'd be a pretty big project. If you're interested, please
Cc this list as you design how it will work.
