Thank you for your nice bug report. But I cannot recreate the problem
with a recent coreutils. Because you are running MS-Win2k I suspect
there were bugs in the ported version that you are running. There are
a lot of things that need to be mapped to make a MS system behave. It
is a very difficult problem. Since we generally use GNU systems we
can't help very much.
You did not say if you were using a Cygwin version of coreutils. But
regardless I suggest you contact the Cygwin folks. They are the
experts with the MS systems.
