That said, POSIX levies no requirements on the wording of the prompt;
perhaps you could propose a patch that rewords "cp: overwrite
`/etc/passwd', overriding mode 0644? " into "cp: attempt to overwrite
`/etc/passwd', overriding mode 0644? ", making it clear that the question
is being asked before the attempt, and that the attempt may still fail.
