That fails, too, indeed. However there's no such thing as strace on
darwin. there was ktrace in darwin8 and now there's dtrace (the one from
solaris) in darwin9 but i'm not familiar with it.

    and i had a hell of a time finding out the message-id, setting the
    in-reply-to header correctly (i hope i did) and so on
