I ran into the same cp -p timestamp problem reported earlier (from
another site):

i.e., if one does a cp -p on Linux 2.6, timestamps are not preserved
when the copy is done ***into*** an NFS mounted file system.
Someone suggested recompiling coreutils with
HAVE_BUGGY_NFS_TIME_STAMPS defined.
I did recompile with that define and it did fix the problem.
Just another data point.
