We are all volunteers. As such ASAP requests really doesn't help. In
fact this tends to put volunteers off. Generally better results occur
with just normal questions.

You appear to be installing grub-pc on either Debian, Ubuntu, or
another derivative. But instead you have reached the coreutils
mailing list. This is for bugs in the coreutils package. We can't
help you with grub-pc issues. You would probably get better help on
your vendor's user support mailing list because this appears to be a
packaging problem and not a problem with any of the upstream parts.

This is a bug in the grub-pc package's postinst script. Please report
it to your vendor. If you have 'reportbug' you may use it to help you
to report the bug.

  reportbug grub-pc

However you probably do not want to install the 'grub-pc' package.
You probably want the 'grub' package instead.

This is indicating an invalid use of the basename command. This is
almost certainly a bug in the grub-pc package.
