I somehow doubt the veracity of your report. cvs 1.11.1p1 is distributed
by varous linux distributions, but is slightly modified.
Is this a virgin 1.11.1p1 release (in which case I urge you to upgrade
to cvs 1.11.5 as it fixes many bugs including a security issue for
pserver users) or a redhat patched cvs-1.11.1p1-8.7 release (in which
case I still urge you consider upgrading to cvs 1.11.5 for the other bug
fixes).

So, A Redhat 7.1 or 7.2 GNU/Linux system?

I am not able to reproduce your problem. Could you upgrade and retest
and then please provide a backtrace of the core file?

I suggest you consider an upgrade to cvs 1.11.5 first and if you still
have problems, please send us the backtrace of the core file.
Good luck,
