log_accum.pl fix

[Jeroen Ruigrok/asmodai]

The following diff allows log_accum.in to not raise warnings and errors
under Perl 5.8.5.

Use 'ne' and not 'NE'.
Remove a stale variable.
Use $var[0] and not the old style @var[0].
