If the logfile can't be deleted, please at least indicate in the logfile
that the recovery was complete. (One line 0x0 0x0 0 I guess.)

Or for simplicity, always write the logfile, even if the recovery is
complete, and then make the attempt to delete it. (That way you don't need
two different blocks of code that write data to the logfile.)

This just happened to me; the logfile was created by one user, but I
continued the recovery using a different user (and chmod'd the files so
that the other user could write to it) but he couldn't delete it.
