I am not sure what windows would be doing with unix level file
permissions. I thought MS-Windows worked based upon .exe file naming?
Cygwin must be doing some type of mapping to make that work at all.
I recommend you check out the Cygwin FAQ as I recall they had
something in there about that when I looked at it last. Mostly GNU OS
users here and not MS-Windows.
